Bexar County, TX — A 58-year-old man arrested in connection with Monday’s deadly shooting in northeast Bexar County is now accused of murder after investigators reviewed a recorded jail phone call, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
Martin Sanchez Jr. has been identified by investigators as the alleged gunman in the shooting death of 31-year-old Andrew Locke.
Deputies responded around 2:30 a.m. Monday to the intersection of Waterside Drive and Crestway Road, where Locke was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds inside a black Mitsubishi Lancer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Salazar said investigators developed enough evidence during a two-day investigation to identify Sanchez as the suspected shooter.
According to the sheriff, investigators reviewed a phone call involving Sanchez from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
“During the course of that jail phone call, (Martin Sanchez) states several times that he shot the man that eventually died,” Salazar said.

A BCSO spokesperson said the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was located between residences near West Silver Sands Drive and Sandman Street.
Sanchez had already been charged Monday with:
• Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair
• Failure to Report Felony with Serious Bodily Injury or Death Results
He now also faces a Murder charge.
Two other people arrested in connection with the case — Kyle Erin Torres-Carcovich, 45, and Robert Barnett, 38 — were each charged with Failure to Report a Felony with Serious Bodily Injury or Death Results, a Class A misdemeanor.
As of noon Wednesday, the murder charge against Sanchez had not yet appeared in his online Bexar County court record, according to the report.
The charges are accusations. Sanchez, Torres-Carcovich and Barnett are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
