Texas City, TX — A search and rescue operation on Moses Lake ended Wednesday after first responders located a missing Texas City resident deceased in the central portion of the lake, according to the Texas City Police Department.
Police identified the man as Robert Kenneth Gass.
According to authorities, Gass left his residence in the Moses Lake area by boat at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, a neighbor reported seeing Gass’s boat capsized near the flood gate.
The Texas City Fire Department, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Search and Rescue and U.S. Coast Guard responded and conducted an extensive search using boats and helicopters.
During the operation, responders located Gass deceased in the central portion of Moses Lake.
Authorities thanked the responding agencies for their coordinated efforts during the search.
