Brewster County, TX — A Wednesday afternoon 911 call reporting a masked man carrying a rifle near 9th and Uvalde prompted a multi-agency law enforcement response before authorities determined the individual was a deputy U.S. marshal serving a warrant in the area.
Brewster County deputies, Alpine police officers and Sul Ross officers responded to the reported armed individual.
When units arrived, they encountered deputy U.S. marshals conducting a warrant operation nearby.
After officers verified the circumstances, authorities determined that one of the masked deputy marshals was the person who had prompted the 911 call.
Officials said the scene is secure and there was no threat to public safety.
