Fate, TX — The Fate City Council has approved a $250,000 settlement agreement with former Department of Public Safety Chief Lyle Lombard, resolving a personnel matter between Lombard and the city.
According to a statement released by the City of Fate, the council voted 4-0 to approve the agreement. Mayor Andrew Greenberg and Council Member Mark Hatley abstained from the vote.
The city emphasized that the settlement represents a mutual resolution and does not constitute an admission of liability or wrongdoing.
Settlement Breakdown:
• Total settlement: $250,000
• City insurance provider: $100,000
• City of Fate: $150,000
The city said its insurance carrier recommended approval of the settlement.
Officials described the agreement as a practical business decision intended to resolve the personnel matter while allowing city leadership and staff to remain focused on municipal operations and priorities.
The City of Fate also said it remains committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility and respecting the legal process and privacy surrounding personnel matters.
