Texarkana, TX — With students returning to school Wednesday morning, the Texarkana Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert as school zones become active again.
Drivers are urged to reduce their speed when school zone lights are flashing, put their phones down, and watch carefully for children crossing streets, parents dropping off students, and school staff directing traffic.
Police also reminded motorists that slowing down can help prevent crashes — and avoid seeing flashing red and blue lights in the rearview mirror.
A few extra seconds behind the wheel can make a difference in helping students, families, and school staff begin the new school year safely.
