Austin, TX — Austin Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that left one person dead Sunday night in southeast Austin.

According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:50 p.m. Aug. 9 to a single-motorcycle crash in the 4700 block of East William Cannon Drive.

Austin-Travis County EMS paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not yet been identified.

Police said the crash is being investigated as Austin’s 49th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in the city’s 49th traffic death of the year. At the same point in 2025, Austin had recorded 60 fatal crashes resulting in 64 deaths.

APD emphasized that the information is based on the initial assessment and could change as the investigation continues.
