Spring, TX — A mother has been arrested and her boyfriend remains in custody as a 2-year-old child continues to fight for recovery following an alleged child abuse case in northern Harris County.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies with HCSO and Harris County Precinct 4 responded Aug. 6 to the 3100 block of Rendezvous Court in Spring regarding a critically injured toddler.
The child was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to another hospital with life-threatening injuries consistent with severe trauma. HCSO said the toddler remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators allege the child’s mother, Jazmin Cisneros, failed to seek medical attention after becoming aware that her child had been physically abused.
Her boyfriend, Gerardo Gonzalez, was arrested Aug. 7 and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of Injury to a Child–Serious Bodily Injury. He remains in custody.
On Aug. 10, HCSO Homicide detectives filed the same charge against Cisneros. Members of the HCSO Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested her Tuesday, Aug. 11, and she was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
The case remains under investigation by HCSO Homicide.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
