Waco, TX — A 43-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting late Sunday night left a 49-year-old man dead, according to the Waco Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:47 p.m. Aug. 9 to the 2800 block of Summer Avenue following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found the 49-year-old victim and immediately began providing medical aid. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as Michael Calhoun, 43. Calhoun was no longer at the scene when officers arrived but was quickly located and arrested in the 2600 block of Alexander.
According to Waco police, Calhoun and the victim knew each other.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified, but his identity has not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said this marks Waco’s third homicide investigation of 2026.
