Rusk, TX — A 34-year-old Rusk man is jailed on an online solicitation charge after authorities said he arranged to meet someone he believed was 13 years old for sexual activity, according to court records.

Jason Kyle Lanier was being held Monday in the Cherokee County Jail on a total bond of $100,000 for a warrant charging him with Online Solicitation of a Minor.

According to an arrest affidavit, the investigation began after an online group known as Predator Poachers identified Lanier as someone who allegedly engaged in a sexually explicit conversation with a person he believed was 13.

Investigators said Lanier continued communicating with the person, who was acting as a decoy, and allegedly made arrangements to meet for the purpose of sexual activity.

According to the affidavit, Predator Poachers contacted the Rusk Police Department after the meeting was arranged. Police responded and arrested Lanier after he arrived.

Lanier is charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor, a second-degree felony.

Total Bond: $100,000

The charge is an allegation. Lanier is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
