Canutillo, TX — A 37-year-old man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from El Paso County sheriff’s deputies on foot during a traffic stop in Canutillo, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop at approximately 8:27 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 7000 block of Fourth Street after observing a vehicle with defective tail lamps.

The driver was identified as Daniel Ocon. During a records check, deputies discovered Ocon had an active criminal warrant for Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle.

After deputies learned of the warrant, Ocon allegedly fled the traffic stop on foot, leading deputies on a brief pursuit.

Deputies located Ocon a short time later and took him into custody without further incident.

Ocon was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Convictions and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Bond: No bond
