Goliad County, TX — Two people were arrested Saturday after Goliad County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop and discovered several weapons, including a loaded handgun, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies identified the two individuals as Lionis Castelnaux Garrido and Yisenia Fabaris Lopez. The sheriff’s office said both are from Cuba and were determined to be in the United States illegally.
During the encounter, deputies reported finding a loaded pistol, a machete, brass knuckles, a butterfly knife and a fixed-blade knife in their possession.
Garrido and Lopez were arrested on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by an Illegal Alien and transported to the Goliad County Jail.
According to the sheriff’s office, both will face local charges before being turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possible federal prosecution and/or deportation.
