Laredo, TX — A Laredo firefighter has died as the Laredo Fire Department continues investigating an incident in the Mines Road and Fasken area Sunday morning.
The Mission Firefighters Association Local 3609 publicly acknowledged the death Sunday, extending condolences to members of the Laredo Fire Department and referring to the loss of a firefighter.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighter’s family, friends, and the entire department as they mourn this heartbreaking loss,” the association said.
Earlier Sunday, the Laredo Fire Department confirmed in response to a media inquiry that the Mines Road and Fasken incident remained under investigation.
“Regarding the Mines road and Fasken incident it is still under investigation. Out of respect for the family we will not be releasing any names at this time. We will provide an official statement soon.”
The department has not publicly identified the firefighter or released official details regarding the circumstances surrounding the death.
Local reports have placed the incident at or near Laredo Fire Station 9 on Mines Road, but the Laredo Fire Department’s statement did not specifically confirm the location or other circumstances being reported.
An official statement from the Laredo Fire Department is expected.
