Houston, TX — A driver was arrested on felony evading and failure-to-stop charges after a traffic stop turned into a pursuit and crash in southwest Houston, according to Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Terry Allbritton’s Office.
Precinct 5 Toll Road deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on West Sam Houston Parkway North near Harwin Drive after observing defective tail lamps.
According to the constable’s office, the driver failed to yield to deputies’ emergency lights and sirens, ran a red light and led deputies on a brief pursuit.
During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle collided with a sedan but continued from the crash scene. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after sustaining disabling damage in the collision.
Following an investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the driver was arrested and charged with Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Stop and Give Information.
