League City, TX — A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder and aggravated assault following a double stabbing Friday evening that left a woman dead and her husband hospitalized, according to the League City Police Department.
Police received a 911 call at approximately 7:11 p.m. on Aug. 7 from a man who reported that he and his wife had been stabbed at a residence in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive.
Officers arrived about three minutes later and found the man in the front yard suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations. He told officers his wife had also been stabbed and remained inside the home with the suspect, later identified as Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez.
Officers saw a woman lying motionless inside the living room through a window and forced their way into the residence. A rescue team removed her from the home, and officers provided emergency medical care until League City Fire Department EMS arrived.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team was called to assist and deployed a drone inside the residence, locating Pelaez in a bedroom. Police subsequently entered the home and took him into custody following the deployment of a Taser.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The woman later died from her injuries. Her husband remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Pelaez was transported to the League City Jail and charged with:
• Murder — $250,000 bond
• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury – Family Violence — $250,000 bond
The investigation remains active.
