Dallas, TX — A 37-year-old man sought by Dallas police following a stabbing and officer-involved shooting has turned himself in Saturday morning.
Dallas police identified the suspect as Isidoro Melo-Munoz.
According to Executive Chief Terrence Rose, officers were called to a disturbance in the 8500 block of Park Lane at approximately 7 a.m. When an officer arrived, police said Melo-Munoz was on top of a woman on a second-floor outdoor landing and was armed with a knife.
Police said the officer gave verbal commands for Melo-Munoz to drop the knife, but he did not comply. As the suspect fled the scene, the officer fired one shot.
Melo-Munoz escaped, prompting a search involving multiple officers, a police helicopter and drones. Police later announced that he turned himself in Saturday morning.
The woman suffered multiple stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital, where she was reported in stable condition.
Police said Melo-Munoz and the woman had been in a dating relationship and described the situation as an ongoing issue.
Dallas police said body-camera footage related to the officer-involved shooting is expected to be released within 72 hours.
The circumstances surrounding the officer's use of force remain under investigation.
