San Antonio, TX — A shooting outside District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez’s East Side field office Thursday evening left one person grazed by gunfire and prompted plans to review security measures at the office.
San Antonio police responded around 5 p.m. to the 2900 block of East Commerce Street.
McKee-Rodriguez said no members of his staff, office visitors, or children affected by the incident suffered serious injuries. One person was grazed by gunfire.
Staff members who witnessed the shooting were given at least Friday off and are being connected with support resources.
McKee-Rodriguez said security protocols at the field office will also be reviewed. He additionally called for continued investment in violence-prevention efforts, including violence interruption programs, mental health services, and opportunities for young people.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the shooting.
