Horizon City, TX — A Horizon City man is facing multiple charges after police say he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and allegedly assaulted an officer during the booking process.
According to the Horizon City Police Department, officers responded around 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 6 to reports of an intoxicated driver near Darrington Road and Valentin Drive.
Police located a silver Ford F-150 stopped in the roadway without a rear tire. Investigators said the driver admitted to drinking alcohol and displayed signs of impairment.
Authorities identified the driver as Alberto Joel Sanchez after initially alleging he provided officers with a false name.
Police said Sanchez allegedly kicked an officer while being placed into a holding cell, causing pain.
Sanchez was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with:
• Assault on a Public Servant
• Driving While Intoxicated
• Failure to Identify
Authorities said his total bond was set at $6,500.
All criminal charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
