Dallas, TX — Dallas police have released new details in Friday morning’s officer-involved shooting in the 8500 block of Park Lane, saying an officer arrived to find a man on top of a woman with a knife.

According to Dallas Police Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes, officers were called to a disturbance around 7 a.m. When the first officer arrived, the suspect was on top of the woman on a second-floor outdoor landing while armed with a knife.

Police said the suspect ignored verbal commands to drop the weapon. As he fled the scene, the officer fired one shot.

The woman suffered stab wounds and was transported to an area hospital, where police said she is in stable condition.

The suspect, identified by Dallas police as 37-year-old Isidoro Melo-Muñoz, remains at large. Investigators said he and the woman had been in a dating relationship and described the situation as an ongoing domestic issue.

Melo-Muñoz is described as:

• Hispanic male
• 37 years old
• Approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall
• Approximately 140 pounds

Dallas police are using officers, helicopters and drones in the search.

Anyone who sees Melo-Muñoz is urged not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.

Police said body-camera footage from the officer-involved shooting is expected to be released within 72 hours, consistent with department policy.
