Eagle Pass, TX — A Texas police officer and former Bexar County deputy constable has been arrested after Mexican authorities accused him of a triple homicide and attempting to flee to the United States with his young son.
According to Mexican authorities, 35-year-old Chad Eberle was arrested Tuesday at International Bridge II in Piedras Negras, across the border from Eagle Pass.
Officials with the State Attorney General’s Office of Coahuila allege Eberle is facing charges of femicide and homicide in connection with a deadly incident that reportedly occurred last month in Saltillo, Mexico.
Authorities said the violence allegedly stemmed from a dispute over Eberle not having permission to take his 3-year-old son. Investigators allege two women and one man were killed, while the child’s mother was seriously injured.
Mexican officials said the child is now in the custody of Coahuila’s child welfare agency.
According to records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), Eberle is currently employed by the Santa Anna Police Department. His employment history also includes service with the Bexar County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Northside ISD Police Department, and the Somerset Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Mexican authorities are handling the criminal case.
