Horizon City police arrested Sergio Ricardo Castillo after officers responded to a welfare check near Eastlake Boulevard and Horizon Boulevard, where a person was reportedly stumbling in and out of traffic.
Police said officers found Castillo showing signs of intoxication. He admitted to drinking, and officers attempted to assist him before arresting him on suspicion of public intoxication. He was later charged with resisting arrest, search or transport.
Castillo was taken for medical clearance and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $1,000.
Police reminded residents to contact authorities if they see someone in distress so officers can respond and help keep the person and others safe.
